Centering Relationships for Young People to Thrive Post-Election
November 7, 2024
With the 2024 election behind us, we want to take a moment to reaffirm MENTOR’s important role in advancing the dialogue around the importance of supporting our nation’s youth through strong networks, connections, and mentorship.
MENTOR seeks to partner with the new administration, members of Congress, and everyday mentors to keep the issues surrounding mentoring a priority, working in a bipartisan effort to ensure that relationships stay central to our work — to create a future where all young people thrive.
Each election cycle is a chance to re-engage our energy on the pressing issues at hand. Barriers still exist that impede everyday Americans from participating in formal and informal mentoring relationships. MENTOR believes mentorship needs to be a readily available resource that is accessible to all young people.
Our recent study found that 1 in 3 young people reported having no adult mentors in their lives. We know that relationships—especially high-quality mentoring relationships—can drive opportunity for all. The MENTOR network works to create more opportunities to promote high-quality mentoring and to engage more Americans in mentoring to better equip young people for a future of success.
MENTOR and our 25 local Affiliates stand ready to support mentoring programs and leaders across the country, providing new mentoring resources, cutting-edge research, training, and advocacy for deepened investment in mentoring.
We invite everyone to join us in this journey of mentorship and empowerment, fostering a generation that is prepared to lead and inspired to dream big.
