Nancy Altobello is an experienced global business leader and financial expert, who has held several leadership positions in a career that spanned close to 40 years. She has extensive experience in the areas of business strategy, P&L, enterprise risk, governance, workforce management, and organizational transformation. Nancy is a recognized and published thought leader.
Geoffrey T. Boisi is a co-founder of MENTOR, and has had an illustrious career across the fields of private and global investment banking, M&A, and wealth management. He has held leadership roles at several finance and banking giants, including JP Morgan Chase & Co. and Goldman Sachs, and sits on multiple management and advisory committees. Geoffrey is also involved in the board of trustees and various educational institutions and chapels, and has been the recipient of multiple awards for his service to the field and community.
Raymond G. Chambers is a co-founder of MENTOR, and currently serves as the Ambassador for Global Strategy and Health Financing at the World Health Organization. A strong proponent of mentoring, he is actively involved in helping underserved youth and communities, and also worked at the United Nations where he sought to improve the health and wellbeing of children. Additionally, Raymond has also co-founded other nonprofit organizations such as America’s Promise Alliance and the Points of Light Foundation.
David A. Coulter is a Special Limited Partner of Warburg Pincus, a global private equity firm. He has also served as vice chairman of JPMorgan Chase & Co and was chairman and CEO of Bank of America Corporation. In 2021, he was announced as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Mellon. He was a member of the MENTOR Board from 2004 to 2010.
George Fertitta is the current CEO of Bloomberg Associates, and has been involved with MENTOR since 2004. Prior to his current role, he served as the CEO of NYC & Company, a private nonprofit marketing agency. George is also involved in various initiatives that support the arts, education, environmental impact, public health, and government innovation.
Marian L. Heard is an energetic and creative leader in the field, and spent over 30 years in leadership roles at the United Ways of Boston and New England, where she spearheaded initiatives that saw phenomenal growth in major gifts. She is the founding president and CEO of the Points of Light Foundation, and has received numerous awards, including 16 honorary doctorate degrees, and the National Public Citizen of the Year Award. Marian is also a board member for organizations in the insurance and healthcare space, as well as a college trustee, author, and longtime mentor.
Thomas G. Mendell is a Private Investor and on the boards of directors of several private companies. Mr. Mendell was a partner of JPMorgan Partners from 2000 to 2003 and a partner of The Beacon Group, a merchant bank, from March 1994 to July 2000. Prior to joining The Beacon Group, Mr. Mendell was a Partner of Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he served as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and Head of GS Capital. Mr. Mendell had shared lead responsibility for making principal investments of the firm’s capital as well as for the Broad Street Fund and GS Capital Partners, L.P. Mr. Mendell also spent eleven of his nineteen years at Goldman Sachs in the Mergers & Acquisitions Department where he successfully completed over one hundred fifty transactions for clients in a wide array of industries. Before joining Goldman Sachs, he was an Officer in the United States Navy.
Mr. Mendell is currently a director of several private companies including Angel Medical Systems, Inc., Sonablate Corp, T3D Therapeutics, Inc. and GlucoVista, Inc. In addition, he is on the board of the Cancer Research Institute and MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership. Mr. Mendell previously served on the Harvard Business School Alumni Board, as a Trustee of St. Bernard’s School and on several other private and public company boards.
Mr. Mendell is a graduate of Harvard University (M.B.A. Baker Scholar) and Vanderbilt University (B.E.).
Dr Tom Osborne is a former U.S. Congressman, and retired University of Nebraska Athletic Director and Football Coach. He holds a master’s and doctorate degree from the University of Nebraska in educational psychology and is a former three-term Republican Congressman (2000-2006). Tom was also the lead champion of the creation of the School-based Mentoring Grants, and additionally founded Teammates in 1991 with his wife Nancy.
Dr. Alan D. Schwartz has extensive experience in the financial services sector, with previous roles at Guggenheim Partners L.L.C., The Bear Stearns Companies, Wertheim & Company, and R.W. Pressprich & Company. He earned a B.A in management science from Duke in 1972, and has been a member of the Duke Board of Trustees since 2005. Alan has also held positions on the boards of many nonprofit organizations working to uplift communities.
The Reverend J. Donald Monan, S.J. entered the Society of Jesus in 1942 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1955. He held several leadership positions throughout his career, including two decades as a director of the Bank of Boston, Chair of Philosophy, Academic Dean and Vice President at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, and 24 years as President at Boston College—the longest presidential tenure in the University’s history.
Willem Kooyker began working with MENTOR in 1993, and was a passionate advocate for mentoring. He was skilled in trading, investments, and banking, and began his career at Internatio-Muller in the Netherlands before being transferred to their New York office. He eventually went on to hold various leadership positions throughout his career, including founding new ventures in the banking and forest products industries. Willem had a wide variety of experiences on different boards, and invested in the betterment of youth and communities through his work.
Phil Ramone was a recording engineer, record producer, violinist and composer, who co-founded A & R Recording, Inc., a recording studio in New York, in 1958. He worked with many famous musicians, such as Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand, and Frank Sinatra, and won eight Grammy Awards for his engineering and producing skills. He was on the MENTOR board for 8 years.
Bill Russell was a professional basketball player, human rights advocate, philanthropist, and founding board member of MENTOR. Throughout his dynamic career, he helped win the Boston Celtics 11 NBA championship titles, while also marching with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and advocating for equality. He was a pioneer and paved the way for all African American athletes and coaches after him. Bill was also the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s highest civil honor.
