Quick Help Guide

If this is your first time in the Online Community, please review the Community Standards.

To Navigate within this discussion area, click on the underlined linked titles (with folder or document icons next to them). To go to a higher-level page, use the underlined links (beginning with the open folder icon and separated by an arrow icon) at the top and bottom of each page.

A Discussion is a collection of messages on the same topic that has the page icon. You can post messages in a discussion or click the Add Discussion button on the bottom left to begin a new discussion (a new discussion is also called a thread).

To Reply to a specific message, click the Reply button next to the author’s name. Type your message into the text box. If you want to add special formatting such as bold, italics, bullets, etc. you can either use the QuickEdit command or regular HTML. Directions for both are linked just below the message box. In any case, be sure to skip a line between paragraphs to preserve paragraph formatting. When you’re ready click the Post My Message button. This page will reload and your message will appear with the others.

To Post a New Thread (topic), (use if you don’t find an existing one that fits what you want to talk about) scroll down to the bottom of the page in a discussion and click the Add Discussion button.

Guest or Registered User? Unless you specifically register and log in, you are in the forum as a guest user. You’ll need to register with an email address and a password of your own choosing to post messages. When you register, you will be able to set your preferences for how you view messages, go directly to new messages and better customize the discussion area to your personal interests.

To Register, click on register at the top of the screen.

To Login with your username and password from a previous session, click Login at the top of the screen.

To Set Preferences such as font size, personal profile, favorite URLs, or change your password, use the Preferences button at the bottom of each page. Preference-setting is only available to registered users.

Visited Links won’t turn a different color like you’re used to seeing. Making your browser think you haven’t been there yet is a good way to make sure you get all the new messages on a fresh page each time you visit.
